Source

I can almost touch
the sun-colored ripples,
when they come close, by my shoulder –
reminder of my essence and my source

So I remember:
my intimacy comes from there,
the present shimmer
gives me my constant light

No need to throw myself headlong,
down among the shadowed rocks
of circumstance, of social history,
of old and current wounds –
there is no comfort there, no guidance,
there’s no solution there, no truth

And since the truth is here,
I will not leave. When I am tempted to,
I will be still, and bask. I will be still
and draw, from my life source,
all that I need,
and all I ever want.

Songs in the night

In the early morning, still cold,
as dew set down pre-dawn  begins to sparkle,
as daylight starts to lift my dark vigil
and there is so much more to see

Let me remember  –
even in the night I had songs –
they were given to sustain my hopes,
they stayed with me, although their words
spoke of something I had not yet seen

There’s always some sustenance.
Maybe there’s always as much
as I’m willing to receive  –
songs in the night, or bright daylight,
according as I’m ready to believe.

Need

September grasslands

Look up —
Right here where you are,
exactly what you need
is at hand. Each moment is packed
with more richness
than you could have imagined,
each person equipped
with what will fill you
with the heart-full rush of sustenance

However barren the landscape may look,
however threadbare your prospects,
however empty you may feel your interactions are,
what you need is ever always here

Look again —
The power of your love
will open all the secrets,
and the bounty that is waiting for release
will tumble out for you in grateful eagerness
to be the priceless thing that meets your need.
