Resplendent

No aspect of your life
can be left out
when grace touches down,
as it does without fail  –
as it answers the cry
of every part of you
to be seen and tended

You’ll feel the seeds of hope
lifting their heads, you’ll feel them reaching
for something you may not see,
and so they show you
the nature of the love
in which they open,
strong, resplendent, free.

Flood Tide

We move in and out of noticing
while the elements of the day
move from grace to grace,
sun touched trees suddenly
dripping in beauty, flocks of birds
landing and flying, singing and calling,
frogs incongruous as January spring

In and out of dream, emotion, memory,
we move in waves – our day is braided
with these and what we observe  –
sometimes they blot each other out
but sometimes they swell together,
their chorus sending us over some edge
where we float like a feather on flood tide.

Radiance

Let me leave the lumps behind
(collateral of judgment)
let the things I say lift free
like flame, like grace,
like being moved by music
in a dance with no pretension

Let me abandon
all pontification, weights
that can fall haplessly
on someone else’s toes,
let my expression
welcome others to their own,
let it celebrate their light
such that we multiply  –
our signal spanning light years,
our radiance close at hand,
bringing warmth and life
to all the land.

Benediction

I will not wait to receive
a benediction from my God

Instead I will be the face, the front,
of my God’s wind, I will go forward
in the might of my God’s breath

I will know Love by loving,
I will know Life
by feeling the aliveness
that empowers me within,
I will know Truth
by being true to the imperative
that names my hope and purpose,
that is my God, my grace.

Sun-like

I watched how the sun
sifted through the firs,
how it dappled the eager forbs,
stretching out long
after months as ground cover

I felt how the warmth was bestowed
in the precise places where the sun hit,
and I considered how precise
my thought must also be,
to pick out truth
and not slop over into lies,
and how sun-like this practice really is,
the bright places and the shadows
all basking in the overflow of grace.

A lesson on listening

How many times,  today,
can I remember
to stop,.to stoop,
to write on the ground?

So may I notice
there’s a choice besides reaction,
a way my pause
can stop a wave of wrong

Let me not react
to what I see or hear,
let all my actions
flow straight from Spirit
and grant to each the grace
to find a place to turn
and realign their actions with their truth.

Seven days of manna

One is eating daily of the manna,
Two is understanding what it means,
Three is being nourished by the bright truth
of being loved too deeply
ever to be dropped

Four is growing with the promise
that every wilderness provides –
that you are never empty when you look up,
that you can trust your ever present guide

Five is the steady rain of blessings,
Six, unstoppably, is the desire to share,
Seven, resting as the gift multiplies  –
the shining truth of substance always there.

Praise

I greet the morning ready
to be taken like a kite
up with the lift of praise,
aloft where brambles
will not scratch
and where my gaze
sees far beyond
the catches of complaint,
to find the ways
where we can soar together,
harmonize,
and all our days
will fill with fragrance
and the wisdom of the wind
and each will yield
a gracious glide back home.
